ETIQUETTE & DANCE

More Than Manners

Adult Adaptive Cotillion combines practical etiquette instruction with social interaction and dance, giving participants opportunities to practice what they're learning while having fun with others.

Classes are active and engaging. Participants aren't simply listening to lessons. They'll practice introductions, conversation, dining skills, courtesy, and partner dancing with instructors and fellow participants in an encouraging group setting. The 5 classes are structured as 40% dance and 60% etiquette instruction.

The goal isn't perfection. It's greater confidence, connection, and comfort in social situations.

HOLIDAY DANCE

A Special Holiday Dance

The season includes a festive Holiday Dance in December, allowing participants to put their new skills into practice in a fun and welcoming social setting.

Participants can dress up, greet friends, practice conversation and social courtesies, and enjoy partner dancing while celebrating the season together.

SUPPORT & PARTICIPATION

Helping Each Participant Have a Successful Experience

We know every participant is an individual. Some adults may participate independently, while others may benefit from additional prompting or the presence of someone who knows them well.

Adult Adaptive Cotillion provides additional classroom staffing and an adapted instructional environment. Participants who require individual assistance are welcome to attend with a parent, caregiver, or support person. We will have two teachers, plus 6 assistants.

After registration, we will personally follow up to learn a little more about your participant, including their strengths, communication style, and any accommodations or support that may help make their experience comfortable and successful.

Adult Adaptive Cotillion is an instructional and social program. NLJC instructors are not licensed therapists or medical providers and do not provide therapeutic, medical, behavioral, or one-on-one personal-care services.

What if my child misses a class?

We understand—life happens, and as parents ourselves, we know schedules can change.

Your student should complete the assignments and practice activities in their workbook before the next class. We also encourage them to arrive 15 minutes early to their next class and introduce themselves to one of our Teaching Assistants, who will be happy to answer questions and help them catch up. Not only does this reinforce the lesson, but it also allows students to practice advocating for themselves—a valuable life skill.
